Food waste is also a significant financial drain on Australian businesses. End Food Waste Australia estimates the cost is as high as $1.2 billion*.
To reduce food waste, Clubs can implement strategies like flexible portion sizes, analysing point of sales systems for better purchasing, ingredient repurposing and daily specials to utilise expiring items. Additionally, food donation programs and composting or green waste collection can further reduce waste. Crucially, staff education on the financial impact of food waste is vital for promoting responsible consumption
